Delegates from Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Georgia and Lithuania, pictured here with International Visitor Program Director Sewell Gelberd and his wife Barbara (center top), spent several days in Columbia speaking with leaders about Digital Disinformation in Older Adults.
The Columbia World Affairs Council (CWAC) is designated by the U.S. Department of State as the Midlands South Carolina affiliate of Global Ties U.S. to receive visitors through the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the foundational professional exchange program of the U.S. government. Please see below to learn more about IVLP.

In recent years, South Carolina has experienced rapid growth in its international politics, culture, and business. Devoted to promoting global understanding and international relationships, CWAC offers a wide range of resources, cross-cultural exchanges, and benefits that allow for international visitors to have valuable and lasting experiences during their stay in the United States.

CWAC will also assume CCFI’s assistance to college and university students and professionals who visit the Columbia Metropolitan area from other countries. CCFI was officially recognized by the University of South Carolina to offer support services to international students, and CWAC is working toward this designation in the near future.
International Visitor Program Director Sewell Gelberd can be contacted at [email protected], 803.678.8489.
